Wait… 18 Forester has a CVT…My '18 Forester was like that. 4.44 gears but 6th gear was like .6:1 overdrive. It still screamed on the highway.
Mine had a handshaker. Last year for the manual in the Forester.Wait… 18 Forester has a CVT…
Got 4.88 in me truck. Meh. Yeah, 70 gets a little revy.
2007What year is this Impreza? That is pretty short gearing for an automatic? It seems you have the same final top gearing that my Focus has, but I right lane camp at 65 mph which the engine seems pretty happy at, and fuel economy is good still.
I did really consider getting a 2017 Outback with a manual, but some goofy US emissions test forces the top gears to be short on manuals, and the 2018's were improved and engineered to be quieter so I went with the CVT. Also I find the subaru engine doesn't really sound the greatest around 2500 to 3000 rpm, and silent below 2000 which the CVT keeps it at almost all the time.
Many years ago I had 26" tires (225/70r14) on a 65 GTO with 3.90 gears and a four speed with 1:1 fourth gear. Definitely buzzed me pretty good on the interstate! But when you're a hungover 19 year old with a coffee in one hand, a Marlboro red in the other, and a Dokken cassette cranking out of your Jensen 6x9's ... ya just don't really notice the buzzing!
