If you told them that the problem was when it got hot, they should not just have performed tests when the car was running right. They should have duplicated the bad conditions.


I wasn't impressed with Pep Boys' inspection. From what I saw, they just let it ran and idle for 2 hrs on a cool day. Like most mechanics nowadays, they are usually only good at replacing stuffs instead of finding the right problem the first time.

I did drive to and from work today as well to the bank. The drive back home was a little nervous as I didn't know if and when it will cut out. But it ran all the way home with only 5 mins stop to get gas. I am trying to keep the tank full each day.

The wires themselves look fine but the black protective sleeve got exposé the wires at near the connector. I am going to clean them tomorrow. Honestly, the wires look dirty as well so I may unplug them to clean the contact areas. I'll drive to work again tomorrow to see if the shop on base has a temp gun to check my ignition coil. The shop on base doesn't charge money to fix, inspect, or help replacing parts. I should not have spent the money at Pep Boys if I had known they are more of a "replacing what the customers think is wrong" shop.

at a garage this could be 10 hours of diagnosis. in short somebody is going to have to make it their hobby to get to the bottom of it!

Not sure what the issue is but I noticed your in the DC area. Which is where my brother lives. They have a 93 Camry I4 purchased new and the car still runs like a top with 145k miles on it. They have it serviced at Wiygul's and are happy with them. You may want to give them a shot.

Drove it today and it still runs fine. Keep in mind, it cut off 4 consecutive times when the problem last occurred, prompting me to get a new car, which is much needed anyway.

I have to keep it insured and tag as I believe this problem occur from driving since letting it idle for hours won't be enough. Otherwise, I would save a lot of money on insurance and tax, tag, and plate fees.
