The other high mileage oils

I see Pennzoil high mileage oil in stores, but have never seen anything about it on BITOG. While checking out the Kendall website, I noticed that they offer a high mileage version of their GT-1 synthetic blend (GT-1 with SealMax). I've never heard anything about it on BITOG, either. Are Maxlife and Castrol High Mileage the only high mileage oils that work well? Anyone have any experience with others?

People, like me, find the MaxLife and GTX HM to be good products and use them since they are likely looking for premium products. MaxLife Synthetic being a super-premium A3 synthetic and GTX HM unique in being formulated thick for it's grade. GTX HM 5w30 is particularly ideal for Euro cars in winter as a substitute for synthetic 5w-40, thick enough for those cars under moderate winter oil temps and the cranking of a 5w. Otherwise, any High Mileage oil is a good choice where applicable.

Interesting, I did not notice it the last time I was there, so I'll have to look closer this time. Knowing CT, they'll probably put that oil on sale sooner or later, for $6 per liter or less.

There aren't many 30wt oils out there that are rated A3, so this oil is in rare company.

The bottles do look a lot like the regular Maxlife bottles, so they are easy to miss. They just have more white/silver on the front of them - the word 'synthetic' is written in silver on a white background!

I've checked other CT stores around the area, and out the 5 I've checked, only 1 store carries it so far. Is this stuff any good?

Dude, have you been under a rock for the last 3 years? It's an A3, BMW LL speced 5w30 and 10w30 oil. Yea it's good stuff!

I noticed on Valvoline's website that Maxlife synthetic meets BMW LL01/98. I did some Googling and found a webpage that says only a Group IV/V can qualify for LL01. Is that true? Would that mean Maxlife synthetic is a group IV/V oil?

Consensus on here is that it is 'just' a group III oil. One ironic thing that has been pointed out is that 'regular' Maxlife has 12 - 22% PAO in it, while the 'synthetic' version has none! Still seems to be a good oil, though.

Used the Maxlife Full Synthetic SL rated 5w30 in a Ford Duratec 3.0L V-6, and we like it. MPG average is now 20.1 vs 18.4 for Kendall GT-1 Syn Blend same weight. Motorcraft 5W-20 got about 18.7 MPG. Each has been driven across several seasons so weather should not be much of a factor in the difference. Another benefit is the motor is a bit quieter when reved above 5K. And the best part is the oil was FAR.

If Havoline dino can go 10k with good results(Lindermat's Civic) this should go 7500 with a good filter. We used a Motorcraft fl-910. Our engine has a 6 quart capacity. We have another change of this oil from the FAR. We are not running it past 5000 because we are still in warranty. I will be changing oil soon, and after the next batch I will do a used oil analysis. Kinda curious myself.

PENNZOIL is an high quality oil. It's dino's are second to none. There High Mileage oil are like the Castrol offerings and are higher end of in each grade thickness wise. This is an attempt to decrease consuption. Valvoline attempts this by adding PAO.
