Our Australasian friends have had me thinking on what constitutes roles (policy) in the present and future as global warming increases, and competition for scarce resources continues.

A fine article here from DEFENSE INDUSTRY DAILY on the Norwegians and their view (purchases/budgets) as actions on Economic Exclusion Zones.

A small country, a small population . . but a great physical location and opportunities. If it is true that the Arctic Ocean will become a transhipment route from Asia to North America (Churchill Bay from Murmansk), then things change. Looks as though the Norskis are moving ahead in enterprising ways.

Ships, terrible weather, uncertainty . . but the need for people in greater numbers in Antarctica should prove an impetus to new roles.

Anything in Australian news sources I've missed that would shed light here?

Can never beat the man on the spot if he's prepared.
