I picked one up for my old Trooper.

That's one well-made oil filter, I tell ya.

I also bought an Amsoil Ea air filter for my Volvo XC70. That thing is awesome!

Man, I've never gone wrong buying Amsoil products.

No, I'm not a dealer. :D

You don't need a grip on the filter. They want you to buy the Mechanics Lube kit. Contains every imaginable oil filter removal tool in a convenient carry case MSRP $167

I agree. That's why I use their products. I use a filter wrench to put on and take off the filter with great success. I find that the grip like FRAM has are pretty much useless and you need a filter wrench to do it right. (This is my experience)

did anyone ever notice that the quality of a product is sometimes revealed by its packaging?

I would agree that the Amsoil filter is kick [censored], but only if you are going to keep the oil a LONG time.

Yes. I've read the thread and previous threads by that member. Under a 5k OCI it appears that M1 bested the EaO by a good bit. I'm anxiously awaiting the results of the 10k testing. Either filter is pretty much a waste for 5k, but I do understand (not agree with) warranty paranoia.

True.

Aint got to be that tight.

Didnt we see here recently a post regarding the Pure One filter outperforming both the M1 and Amsoil filter?

I have never used an Amsoil filter but should be getting it shortly, but what do you mean by "new" or is it "new" just because you have never used one before?

I hand tighten and loosen the EA as I would do with any brand oil filter, with a strip of sandpaper.
Works great.

I hand tighten and hand remove filters. Never had a problem with one I've installed myself. I can't imagine installing a filter using a wrench.
