U?
I don't think I have posted in this thread before? If I have sorry for the repost.
Longest I have ever driven without sleep was approx 25-26 hours. And yes it was stupid but I did it anwyay. That came 2 days after back to back 14 hour + days.
Last November( 2009 )I got a puppy in Virginia. I drove down from NH on a Sturday and picked her up Sunday AM then drove home. It was approx 14 hours one way. I have a serious illness( MS )and that Monday and Tuesday after I got home was very hard on me with the Puppy. She was a maniac and I got no sleep and got sick.
I couldn't take it so I arranged to take her back to the breeder in Virginia. I left Wednesday at 1AM. Got to within approx 75 miles of meeting the breeder in Virginia on Wednesday afternoon and could not go through with it. Darn puppy got to me.
I called and cancelled returning her and then turned around and drove back home( looking back I am glad I did as she is a good dog ). Got home at 3:30AM Thursday. So 26+ hours straight. There was maybe an hour - an hour and a half tops for bathroom breaks( us and the dog ), food, and I did close my eyes once( at a rest area not driving
)for about 20 minutes when I couldn't keep them open any longer. Otherwise just straight driving as best I could to get home ASAP. I was VERY tired for a couple days after that let me tell you!!!!!
I don't recommend doing this. It was not smart but with the puppy with us I couldn't get a hotel room and I just wanted to get back home as I felt so sick. Those 5 hour energy drinks actually help though. Made a huge difference for me on the way home.
I have driven NH to VA many many times in my life non stop. Takes 12.5-14 hours depending on where in VA I am going. I can do that no sweat but definitely don't recommend the 24 hour+ straight thing.
This was her when we got her( I just couldn't let her go back )...
This is Sadie now...
