Its well know Teflon coated pans can kill birds if the pan gets hot enough this seems to apply to other so called non stick coatings as well. Bad stuff.
I watched this and it's pretty sad and disturbing how duPont didn't care.
On a somewhat related note (to Teflon), I used to work for a large pump manufacturer and duPont was a major customer of ours. We had other large chemical producers as customers as well (Eastman, Dow, etc) and most of them had a spec we had to follow with their pumps - no Teflon tape or paste on threaded connection. I always thought it was a "competitive" thing and they didn't want to use their biggest competitors product in their pumps. Maybe that was the sole reason but after watching this show, I wondered if it was so they avoid any 'contact' with Teflon.

Maybe. Probably had more to do with the decomposition by products containing things like Flourine / HydroFlouric acid. It's not enough to eat through glass or dissolve you like a school of piranhas, but it may be enough to mess up a sensitive chemical reaction.

I'm not sure why people even bother with coated pans anymore. Cast iron, stainless or carbon steel pans can do everything you want and leech dietary iron instead of PTFE.

Agreed. We switched to stainless and ever since, never needed to consider the need to replace it (unlike coated pans).
C-8 was in all kinds of products besides pans...Scotchgard, fabrics, clothing, shoes, leather sprays, food wraps, cleaning products, and the list goes on.
Supposedly, virtually all humans on the planet have C-8 in their blood.

We got rid of coated cooking pots and pans many years ago due to this. Stainless or cast iron only in our kitchen.
