I notice that the min-max area on the stick is just mm:s longer than the thread to close the oil stick on the little Sprint 40. An OK level when just dipping could be "overfilled" when screwed down.
How to do this right?
(yeye, I know it probably doesn't matter at all, but we are all interested in the perfect way to do this, right?)

The manual for my Briggs and Stratton 19.5 HP on my rideing mower says to tighten the dipstick when checking oil. The manual for the 5 HP Briggs and Stratton Sprint on my trim mower says to tighten the dip stick. Fro the 12 HP on the old rideing mower it says to set the dipstick on top without screwing it down. You might want to double check your engine manual.

The old 12 HP is a Kawasaki engine, not a Briggs and Stratton. I gave you bad info there. SORRY
