I'm trying to find out what beer you people like. I like the occasional dark beer, a Doppelbock like Spaten Optimator. What brew do you like? If you don't like beer, don't worry, I plan on starting a hard liquor thread before noon.

Bavarian beers in general, and hefeweizen beers in particular. In the UK, there is one I covet - Greene King Abbot Ale. In the US, you can usually find some decent microbrews and steer clear of Bud and Coors and the other lowest common denominator beers. Then there is Carlsberg Elephant, Kronenbourg 1664, ....

Too many!

I guess I never acquired the taste for beer, if I do drink it I usually drink Leinenkugels.

For an everyday, light beer, I drink Coors light. If I want something good, I like Fosters, Guiness and Red Stripe. When I was in Australia a few years back, I developed a taste for Victoria Bitter. They also have Duff beer down there.

Can't get the Victoria up here, though.

Matt, don't let the resident Aussies know you like Foster's! Quick, grab a bottle of Cascade Premium Lager and repent!

...but I did say I liked Victoria Bitter and Duff? Doesn't that count?

I do have the occasional urge to:

A) Drink Oktoberfest beers with thin Brazilian girls in Blumenau......(you would be amazed)...I have the unused Chopp to prove it.

B) Drink odd Belgian beers, fermented in strange ways with strange ingredients, and old unbitter hops....while not thinking about Chinese girls. (you would BE amazed) I have brewed a Framboise and a Kriek, plus a red currant beer.

All Australians - please be aware: All quips by us Yanks in regard to Fosters and good (in the same utterance) are only referring to the girls in the TV ads.....Thanks mates.

nice simpsons reference, btw!

guinness
heineken
bass ales
bell's (any flavor, michigan brewer)
sierra nevada (any flavor)
rolling rock (i don't know why)
yuengling (spl)

2 places I don't get to enough for best brews I've ever tasted:
Atomic Ale at Blue Corn Cafe in Santa Fe, NM.
Charleston Wheat at Hilton Head Island Brewery Company, SC.

The last Foster's TV commercial I remember seeing featured a leathery looking Paul Hogan. Or was that a Subaru ad? Or maybe it was a combined ad?

By the way, beer ads would make a nice topic! I miss the Budweiser frogs but not the Beck's gay sailing cruise ads! Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I was referring to the chick that tears the bottlecap off with her teeth, bobs for a beer in the ice tub, and my favorite; the guy withOUT an erectile problem....well it turns out to be the remote.....

Even the Cascade Premium Light is good!

I've always liked,
Tooheys Old
Redback (a wheat beer)

I most admit a beer hasn't passed my lips in about 4 months, nor any form of sugar, or ....

Bloody health kicks, they always have a downside.

Pablo, you must be watching some saucy TV channels. Slowly but surely I come to think of you as a barca-lounging George Hamilton type chick magnet.

PS: Tsingtao isn't bad. Goes well with General Cho's chicken and frog pudding.

I like the beers brewed by Anderson Valley and Rogue for micro stuff. I like our local brewery, Sequoia Brewing Co. Since I’m a BJCP National Certified beer judge, and a long time home brewer, I like many different styles. Which styles depend on my mood and the weather usually. Currently, I’m enjoying an Oktoberfest/Marzen/Vienna style beer I made a couple months ago using a mixture of domestic and European malts and hops. For those in the know, It’s a 1.056 gravity beer made with Check Saaz and Oregon Crystal hops, Weyermann pilsner malt, and Great Western light and dark Munich malt. 26 IBUs and and finished 1.012.

I generally like all the beers (and women) my pal Pablo likes too! Accept I’d have a hard time concentrating on my beer with a beautiful Chinese girl by my side. A nice Belgian Gueuze or Lambic hits the spot on occasion.
