THE BEST OIL FILTER?

The least expensive that let's you sleep well. They all do a decent job of filtering oil. Even the orange can does a decent job of that. If your OCI is 4-6K you can get a very good Motorcraft for under $3.50, heck even for $2.22 in a Supertech at Wally World.

It looks like the new Amsoil EA filters are the way to go, of course if price is of no concern. They claim an absolute efficiency of 15 Microns, way better than any other oil filter now available. Have you considered a by-pass setup?

I had to think about this subject for a while.Unless you are going to greatly extended oil change intervals ,don,t waste the $$$ on the big buck filters. In my opinion there are better choices than the orange can.

My opinion is as follows:
Best oil filter - Amsoil EA
Best commonly available oil filter - Mobil 1
Best value/performance in an oil filter - Motorcraft

For extended drains I like Amsoil AE or Mobil 1.

For normal service I like Purolator Pure One.

For short services I'll buy what's cheap.

Amsoil EA for best filteration.
Mobil 1 & Pure One for good filteration and price.
Motorcraft and Wix for standard filteration and economical price.

Bryan,

I emailed you about getting a few wix 51333s. Check your mail, I had a few questions on quantity and purchasing.

Robbie, seeing as how you are a Carolina Boy go to Fred's Dollar Store and get a Havoline (Rebranded Purolator Premium Plus) for $2.09
