The Best Oil Choice Possible - K12C Suzuki

Hello all 🙂 I hope you're well.

I am looking at buying the first full service kit for my Moms car. It's a Suzuki Ignis with a 1.2 petrol engine with a timing chain. It has direct and port injection I believe.

The manual is very vague with what the oil requirement is. You can basically put whatever you like in so long as it meets ACEA standards. 🤣

However, my logic is that for £10 difference in oil cost I may as well get the absolute best I can for it.

I have attached the requirements from the manual as a picture.

I have then used the Lubrizol comparison tool to find what has the best all round cover. It looks like A7/B7 would be the absolute peak as it meets or exceeds all the other ACEA standards that the car recommends with even better wear and deposit control ratings.

The car is used mostly for short trips so I want an oil that'll help prevent sludge and protect the timing chain as well as possible.

Would you agree going for a A7/B7 would be a good choice?

Isn’t 0W16 and 20 a GF6A and B? Manual recommends but goes up to GF-5 only. I would go with a good 0W20, Mobil 1 or Castrol meeting latest Dexos or Euro formula
 
If mine I would be using an A3/B4 5w-30 in your choice of oil brand. Is Mobil1 ESP 0w-30 available there? It's very popular in the US and would be my first choice.
 
Whatever cheapest bmw ll-01 or porsche a40 with the manufacturer approval that you can source. I once played with opie oils uk and found petronas 3000, total quarts, and valvoline to be the cheapest 5L jug that had one of those and were about 30. But local availability matters.

Japanese cars usually aren't as picky as Euro cars :)

If you use it mostly for short trips, the 0w16 probably is the best choice, but if you're still afraid of it, then use the cheapest 0w20. There is nothing wrong with using A7/B7 or A5/B5
