The Best British Rock Band

Yeah, I was just making a dumb joke. Fleetwood Mac's and Bob Welch's popularity as artists was highest after he left the band.
Haha good catch! (y)

Did Bob Welch have any released music prior to him being in Fleetwood Mac? I love his solo stuff from the mid 70s.

Christine McVie never got the recognition she deserved IMO. She had musical talent, a beautiful voice and could out sing Stevie Nicks 10 to 1. Stevie was a drop dead gorgeous prop on stage with a Tamborine, and raspy unintelligible garbled voice. She was a big draw for the band and Mick Fleetwood knew it but talent wise she was mediocre at best.

I must of been to stoned back then, while I like most of the hard rock bands mentioned a good friend and I were more in to the likes of Traffic with Steve Woodwind and Dave Mason, Cat Stevens, Phil Collins/Genesis, Elton John, Humble Pie, Savoy Brown, Ten Years After, Yes, ELO to name a few.

Being in a small town in the 70's we had to drive to a big city to get these.

I had to look it up. Apparently Welch was a starving artist before Fleetwood Mac, with this song representing the peak of his career. No wonder he was starving.

I’m guessing that’s Welch at the very bottom of the group photo.
It could be. His nose looks similar to other pictures of him. I found none as early as this.

These pictures are from a Bluesbreakers show I saw in 1982. John Mayall, of course, his band, and John McVie on a break from Fleetwood Mac. Mick Taylor, too, several years after leaving the Rolling Stones. I got these off a facebook page for the venue, Melody Fair in Tonawanda, NY. Mayall had a lot of young, talented musicians in and out of his band in the '60s. Eric Clapton was playing a show in nearby Buffalo three nights later. We were hoping he might make an appearance, but he was between shows in Minneapolis and Detroit that night. No internet, who knew? After leaving the Yardbirds, Clapton played with Mayall and McVie on Mayall's famous Beano album. Great show. I guess there's a bootleg DVD of it floating around, but I haven't found a copy.

John Mayall, John McVie, Colin Allen & Mick Taylor. The venue was round, with a circular revolving stage. Nobody had to stare at the backs of the band all night as these pictures suggest.
