Son was desperate to see the Avengers, as he seems to be following in his Dad's footsteps as a bit of a Marvel tragic, so we went to see it today (not 3D thankfully, way too much IMO for 3D).

After the sticker shock ($16 adults and $12.50 kids confirming why movies are twice a year treats).

Not ashamed to say, but I absolutely loved the movie.

Interestingly the Zulu have Chitauri legends, which I'd guess that the Marvel stuff is loosely based on.

That's one of the nice things about the high cost of the movies. When you go, you choose something you really want to see and enjoy it.

In any case, I've got such a large screen at home now and great sound, it's actually a better all round experience at home for me.

Heh heh, when I hear Avengers, I think, Steed and Emma. Circa 1965,Diana Rigg was a fine figure of womanhood.

That is ALL I think of. This thread is a ruse and a letdown.

dang, it's already out down under?
not in theaters until may 4th up here in the states.
I have tickets to the "ultimate marvel marathon"
starts @11:30a on Thursday the 3rd. all in one sitting, Iron man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor(3D), Captain America (3D), all leading into the Midnight premiere of The Avengers (3D).
all for $40 USD.(AMC Cinemas. Cinemark is doing a similar marathon for half the price, not sure if theirs are the 3d prints or not. check the appropriate websites, as they are only doing it @ selected theaters.)

and hey andy & Pablo, you just reminded me of the "good eats" pizza episode, and Alton's mention of his favorite Pizza Peel,"Emma"

SAME HERE!!!

The sight of her hotness buzzing around in that Elan, and moving about in those skintight outfits is FOREVER burned into my psyche!!!!!!

Really ???

That's strange, lucky I didn't mention any of the good stuff.

It was released on ANZAC Day, may have something to do with it (or nothing). Sold out in local theatres 3 days before.

Reading that out to my son, his eyes are boggling...

Mate you guys are lucky. I have to wait a minimum of 6 more days to see it! I am happy you did not say anything about it. I am going to live in a bubble and not pay any attention until I see the movie for myself.

I saw a screening of the The Avengers last week. I was hugely disappointed in this movie. I won't reveal any spoilers here unless requested.

I would agree, except for Daredevil. I thought that it was pretty blah.

Fair enough...DD could have been better...and we won't mention "Elektra", in which the only redeeming quality was Jennifer Garner...

Still - Avengers opens today, and I've got tickets for tomorrow night!

I wasn't particularly interested, even with Scarlett Johansson in it. But then I found out that Joss Whedon, of "Buffy," "Angel," "Firefly," and "Cabin in the Woods," co-wrote and directed "Avengers." So it's on the (matinee, meaning $5.00) schedule for me.

(Yes, I too think first of Steed and Mrs. Peel as embodied by Patrick Macnee and Diana Rigg. From everything I've read, that movie w/ Uma Thurman was an abomination, but I've gotten to see the early B & W episodes on DVD, and they were sharp.)
