The 60s are slipping away. R.I.P. Michael Nesmith.

Michael Nesmith was a songwriter, as @odie pointed out. He wrote "Mary Mary" for the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

Wasn't aware of " Mary , Mary " . Have a cassette of Paul Butterfield Blues Band - East - West . It's been a long time since I've listened to it and plan to do so . Thanks .

The Monkees were a manufactured band but they became very good. TV show was kinda slapstick but funny. I think Nesmith's mother invented 'white out' back when typewriters were still clickety clackin' away. Peter Tork became a college professor, language studies I think. Davy Jones was a jockey once. Dolenz was a child actor, TV series 'Circus Boy'. RIP Michael.

R.I.P. Michael. His songs were among the best The Monkees ever made. He was a very accomplished folk musician in the mid 60s before The Monkees and recorded under the name Michael Blessing.

One of my favorite Nesmith songs:

Nesmith also produced the 80s cult classic "Repo Man" with Emilo Estevez and Harry Dean Stanton.

My friend and I can still quote entire scenes verbatim. 'You'll find one in every car...... You'll see"

Sorry to hear. The Monkees, or what was left of them, had a concert near me just a little over a month ago. I initially thought about buying tickets, but the price was just a little too high.
His death will give the record companies a reason to jack up the price of Monkees music.

RIP Michael. The show had a huge syndication run in the 1980's when I was in high school and might have been bigger than it's original network run. There were several summers in the later 1980's where all the kids off school watched...

Yep, I remember that. 1986 I think. I was maybe in the 11th grade. MTV was showing them I think.
