I don't think it's an issue in MA as your proof of insurance is listed on the vehicle registration.

Here your car would probably sit in the county impound lot while it's being sorted out. Tow and storage probably around $200.

NY insurance checks are quick, but out-of-state checks depend on what info-sharing arrangements with NY that state has. If traveling out-of-state, definitely have your insurance card.

Apparently i'm not beyond this yet, they nabbed me again a couple months ago, i thought i had everything cleared up, but apparently the first time through left some 'presents' in the system, and they recorded my dismissal of the insurance ticket as a conviction, so i had to have SR-22 insurance, which i didn't have, so my license got pulled again, and again i wasn't notified.

I have lawyered up.

Good call on the lawyer. I hate it when something simple ends up costing lots of time and $$$$ because of a glitch...

Good luck - it's become personal to them at this point, and they are determoned to 'break you' - you'll be fighting this for months, if not years.

A little 'glitch' in the computer system, and all of a sudden, voila - you have a 'history' of being nabbed w/o a licence or proper insurance!

You'll be lucky if you get out of this with just a lifetime licence ban - they're going to want jail time for 'reckless' behaviour' that endangers the public.

Like I said before, absolute power corrupts 100%.

Nice sweeping statement. The three CT state police I know are rational and balanced. Perhaps there is an issue with TX screening process or training. If malcontents are present in the system to a large degree, there is a systematic problem.

Its not just Texas.I think that for the most part, police are thugs in an official uniform. This type of cop is what gives the whole bunch a bad name. They become a cop so that they can bully people around.

I disagree. They protect the most dangerous people in our society: The politicians and lawyers.

Fact-you're required to carry proof of insurance in your vehicle. I can't speak for Texas, but here when you purchase a new/different vehicle you carry a copy of your previous vehicle's proof of insurance, or a copy of your policy until your insurance company gets your new cards to you.

Since your license was suspendended once before because you failed to have insurance, you should have known better on the insurance issue too.

The officer was in the right and you were in the wrong.

WWrong. If they do not send you a letter, or otherwise inform you, then there is no way of knowing. Do YOU monthly go online or call the DMV to check if your license is suspended? No you don't, and if you do, then you are a liar. As far as carrying insurance cards goes, I'd have to ask my mom (she works for state farm) you probably do, but it is definitely in the computer if you have insurance or not, that much I know.

Welcome to the wonderful world of double standards. Ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law. But it is a wonderful excuse for not enforcing the law.

Believe it or not, they do it on purpose. They make your life as difficult as possible so you will just pay the fee and move on. Money is what it is all about, not safety or justice.

in georgia you are not required to have proof of insurance as that info is fed into LE databases.i usually keep a paper copy somewhere in my vehicle.just in case it is needed.
90%+ of the cops i know are good folks, but that other % is very worrisome.
however in my 8-9 traffic stops i was polite and pleasant to the officers.out of the 11 or 12 officers involved only 2 were jerks.1 was an automaton writing tickets and the other was hunting dui's and was mad because i was not one.but his backup was a nice dude and we had a good conversation about my ruger secuity six 357.lol.

Here it starts at $150, then $30 a day. If the police don't release your vehicle, then you still pay $30 a day. If you don't pay, they liensale your vehicle. If they don't get all their money from the sale of your vehicle, they send you a bill, and you have to pay it. A real scam.

Let me guess, if you don't pay the bill after losing your car, your license is toast, right?

Absolutely! You are 100% correct on that one!
