Random insurance proof gripe

Do you have to answer any questions since you were not stopped for a violation? I always wondered about the legality of sobriety checkpoints.
I am thinking if your not involved in a crime you don't have to answer any questions or be detained.

Would you comply with a police requst to provide proof that you didn't commit any moving violations last week?

The prof of insurance is only required at the time of requst, how can a state establish that you operated a vehicle in the past without insurance?

What I'm saying is that people should stop providing this information because they don't have to. Just because a government agency asks for something, doesn't mean you have to provide it.

Your question reminds me of Steven Anderson, a pastor in Arizona who has made several videos on Youtube challenging the border patrol checkpoints and citing the 4th amendment while refusing to answer questions. Let's just say the border patrol agents aren't very amused. I'm sure there are similar videos by folks challenging DUI checkpoints.

I've only gotten these when I've switched cars or insurance companies-I've never seen one for OLD insurance?? Does this mean I need to save all my old insurance cards now? Ohio's problem is they never check at renewal-and I've personally known people (NOT ME) that have paid for 1 month of a 6 month or 1 year policy just to get the card. But if you have an accident, you're screwed. Would be instant unemployment in my case!

If I don't comply they take away my driving privileges. So I comply.
