Lube time, unit time???? Doesn’t make sense. How many miles on the engine and how many miles on the oil?
Oops let me fix it for you... Copy the title and paste it below. The 4500 is lube milage or 6 months. Sample #4 is the most recent. Every 6 months are other samples.

@Bill_W ah yes, that would explain it. The aluminum came from them removing the spark plugs and some shavings from the threads must have fallen in and caused that spike. 👍🏼 It all makes sense now
I thought they over torqued the plugs but did another compression test and appeared they were torqued correctly. Somehow they got all 4 cylinders above specs. and my test showed Cylinder #4 below normal.

Looks like Mobil 1 still adds lots of Moly for Toyota. Now we need TGMO 10W-30.

I remember reading that M1 made high moly oil per Toyota (TGMO) request and then there was a time that they weren't doing that (according to Gokhan iirc) ... seems like tgmo still has lots of Moly.

The million mile question is… does moly really help with anti wear vs a formula that has ZERO moly in it? I don’t recall seeing any proof of it. The Japanese manufacturers sure do seem to think Moly is EXTREMELY important for their engines and need a good 600ppm of it “OR ELSE”

🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes, you are correct. for some reason Japanese manufacturers do like lots of Moly in their specified or recommended engine oils.

I think it makes their engines sound or run smoother. I have a Tundra and know couple of people who switched back to TGMO oil because they claim that their engines had much more "ticking noise" when they used other oils ...

My wife thinks her car sounds smoother when I use Pennzoil Platinum but PP is not loaded with moly as far as I know but her car is not Japanese either. lol

I'm personally neutral. However, I don't know enough to go against Japanese experts but also don't want to pay Amsoil or TGMO prices either. If I can find a cheaper oil with moly, I'll buy it otherwise I let the engine suffer.

Valvoline EP is on my radar lately. Someone here said it has lots of moly and reasonable price. I think QS is another one.

For one thing that moly is dinuclear. And Idemitsu/Mazda with moly oil and TGMO has a similar high Noack and loaded with VII. Maybe over compensated additives for the cheaper base oil. Moly is an alternative to ZDDP but some oils use boron. Moly needs the oil temperature to switch on and boron does not.

On a 10,000 mile engine?!!? Why was it in for diagnosis to begin with at such a young age?

Yes. Inquiring minds want to know about this. Why would a compression test be done on a fairly new motor?

Aluminium is fine. This engine is still breaking in.
