This TG16 was used for a little over 8k in my Jeep. 5k run with Pennzoil HM 10w30 then a 3k run of M1 TDT and 1 quart of MMO.

I consider my engine to be pretty clean especially after seeing it with the valve cover off last winter. I am surprised to see that much crud inside the can. I guess the MMO did it's thing.

I was on the fence about running this blend again, but I just used some remaining PYB and Pennzoil HM and my last Mopar filter.

I would check out your air filter and associated plumbing for leaks or cracks.

You are right. The filter caught what the MMO cleaned.

The associated plumbing, valve cover gasket and air filter has about 11k on it now.

Used RT6 and had twice that, maybe more. The oil did it's thing, MMO was there as a spectator.

Maybe, but I think more credit is due to the Pennzoil HM and the M1 diesel oil, both very good high detergency oils.

The filter otherwise looks pretty good, and you certainly got your money's worth out of that Fram TG.

I don't get the MMO hostility, use it or don't.

I use it and yes there is more crud in my filters with it than without.

Thanks for the cut and post! My next OCI will be back to a Tough Guard again.

It is really hard to say. I am just going by past experiences.. I do know I have used other top tier oils (mainly PYB) combined with filter cutting for about 2 years now and have never seen that much crud in the can.

I'm contemplating using either some Rotella T5 10w30 or conventional Rotella T 10w30 in my 97' next weekend with a TG I have

Is the Pennzoil HM a synblend? Or what would you recommend runnning it to dlundblad?

I have it in my Jeep and am approaching 5K miles on it. I put a lot more miles on it than I planned. Debating changing it now or running it out to the spring.

I asked Pennzoil this question during the Q&A, and they said it was conventional.

They market it as a conventional for sure, another Shell rep here posted previously it was actually a blend then went silent when posed follow up questions.

Who knows for sure, what we do know is it is one of the best oils available.

In that case I'll probably change it out sooner. I'm pretty sure I qualify for severe service.

5k is about my limit for the stuff since I have no UOA's to back it.

I didn't realize it was a conventional. I won't extend the drain interval or pull a Uoa on it ... the engine isn't worth it and I'm sure aluminum is through the roof. It seem to have slowed the pan gasket leak a bit.

Inside the can? I hope not!

It was pretty gritty.
