I run a large fleet and have a apprehension about moving away from a 3000 OCI. I have never purchased a motor because of oil issues. I have an opportunity to lower operating costs by moving to Texaco Synthetic blend oil. This will be purchsed in bulk (1000 gal) at a time. What are your thoughts?

Are you extending your OCI or just changing the type of oil you are using?

Based on ?

Seems like you need some metrics to decide if extending your OCI is practical.

To answer your question, both. The fleet breakdown is 274 vans, cars, and pickups; then another 175 class 7 and 8 trucks, however the trucks are "a whole other ball game". With 274 automotive level vehicles with regular scheduled maintenance is a substantial expense and lowering this is my ultimate goal for this portion of the fleet.

Currently using Shell ROTELLA® T Multigrade CI-4 PLUS 15w40 for truck fleet. All automotive vehicles outsourced.

Heck I've ran conventional Texaco (Havoline 5w30) in my car 2 summers ago and got a used oil analysis and it came back great after 4,300 miles. With a synthetic blend Texaco you could go past 3,000 easy! Just my 2 cents.

New to the Forum but not new to the automotive or Lubrication world. What part of AZ are you in?

Texaco has always had very good additive packages. I personally don't have any opinion about the blend but You shouldn't have any issue going 5K on ANY blended product.

Do you guys have any diesels in your fleet?

I must change the information listed in this post. I have listed the wrong oil used for my truck fleet. It is the
Shell Rotella T Multigrade product not the CI-4 rated product.

I'd have no problem whatsoever going with the Havoline blend for 5k miles. If you're used to 3k, just run 4k for awhile, then move to 5k. I'm also OCD, and it was hard at first, but now it's no big deal!!
