Tesla Robotaxi / Robovan Event

The board has to know Musk is destroying the company, but they know if they oust him the stock will tank to where it should be.
You're right, he has the company by the balls, for now, and he knows it. I happen to love the big swings, especially when they dump it after a big run up.

If you were actually thinking using first principles you wouldn't produce a product that is a childish fantasy of what a truck is supposed to be.

I thought that Tesla hit rock bottom with the Cybertruck, but it looks like I was wrong.

Well let's just say I ain't buying a CT anytime soon. Conversely my 2 Model 3s have far exceeded my expectations. I drove our RX450h F Sport about 130 miles this morning and my GS350 F Sport about 100. Both are great, dependable vehicles.

I missed the Model 3 Performance. A lot. This car, at least for me, is just about perfect.

Model 3 is nearly Tesla perfection just by cutting out all of the unnecessary BS. The simplicity of design is what makes it a home run. The Model Y is that for the crossover crowd that I don’t understand. As far as anything Tesla outside the Model 3, they can keep it.

I still think the implementation of some of the features, namely basic cruise control have some unforgivable faults, but outside of that I have very few complaints about the car. The Cybertruck and this Robocar fantasy come across as gimmicky crap and I think it severely diminishes the image Tesla could have.

All jokes aside. Tesla stock fell like 9% on Friday after the event. I just finished watching an analysis of the stock after the event and basically, the problem is not what Elon showed, but rather what he didn't show.

Vehicle shipment has slowed, and the stock was supported by the speculation that RoboTaxi would move the company from a car company mostly to a service company doing ride hauling, without using lidar like Waymo or Cruise. However Elon showed it in a closed course, with no confident Tesla could start this before 2027, and didn't show any progress on the FSD software improvement, the business plan, or the progress with various regulation body in governments. Sure Optimus is cool but this doesn't stop Wall Street dropping RoboTaxi from its valuation and look at Tesla as a car company with declining sales (everyone does at high interest rate, and China especially due to economy downturn).

First day of Robotaxi. Going great…

Signals a left turn, starts a left in the left turn lane, changes its mind in the middle of the intersection, goes straight across the intersection and drives the wrong way down the street. 👍👍

Kind of what I expected. FSD requires supervision in our privately owned cars for a reason. It didn’t magically fix the issues slapping a Robotaxi sticker on the side.
Honest post (for those who dont know me)
You know WAYMO if I understand things correctly has self driving in its designated cities pretty much perfected.
Why all the excitement in the media/stock market that Tesla is TRYING to enter. It seems like they still have many issues to work out and once again, behind schedule according to what Musk was leading the public to believe.

So now there is a very limited test in ONE area of Austin and I think after a few days they already have the government look into it.
Dont misunderstand I think self driving is cool more so on the interstates etc.
It will also be an aid for people who need transportation on a regular basis lets say to a health network receiving treatment.

It's just Musks statement that MILLIONS all over will be using the self driving feature in a matter of months.
I dont know. Here is just one of many updates below.

____ I get it, its new, it's just the promises of "millions" using this in just a few months when these issues came up in a LIMITED area of one city.

It’s not that I don’t want it to succeed either, but I’ve also seen where believing what Musk has said has got us in the past. He’s always way too confident about the outcome and I understand it, he trusts in his company and its developments. We’re many years past his promises with FSD and his obsession that camera only was the way forward now not even 3 years later now means the 2023 vehicle I bought in 2022 already has out of date hardware. That was supposed to be the one. Now that won’t cut it and get the latest software.

Development is never a straight line. Any major project that never missed deadlines wasn't that major.
And many just flat-out fail. We are talking driverless cars here.

When did they ever meet a deadline?
Let me rephrase that, when did they ever come reasonably close to a deadline?

I’m just asking because I don’t know.

Part of a CEO‘s job is to be relatively accurate and informed on the rollout of products as he reports to the shareholders.

Maybe in 2 years when my lease is up my next Tesla will show up at my door! Super impressive!

Hard to believe this is even legal... But here it is.
Our 1st Model 3, in Dec 2018, was delivered to our house by a driver who happened to be a janitor I believe. I guess Elon couldn't afford to pay?
