Wow, what a dud of an “event”. They unveiled a 2-door, 2-seat autonomous Robotaxi with no steering wheel and a larger autonomous van. 2026 at the very earliest (we know what that means). Almost zero details or specs. FSD still can’t detect the difference between red and green lights reliably. No way this is service in 2026 with no driver controls.

A few months back, Out of Spec did a review on the latest FSD update. They started out and it came to a highway intersection clearly marked as right turn only.

It turned left onto the highway and pulled out in front of a truck. There were no adverse conditions. Still a lot of work to be done.

It was only two months ago that with the new "FSD Update " that Musk claimed was amazing a guy was reading a book in his model 3 when it hit a police car with its lights flashing. The officer had responded to a fatal accident and had part of the road blocked. I can't believe that Musk (or his engineers) think that a level 4 is attainable only two years out. Reports have already surfaced that Teslas autopilot disengages way more frequently than waymo does. When will the supreme court step in and say no?

The robo van looked fake to me. They hid the bottom and immediately closed it off so no one could get near it. I also noticed it was creeping up slowly and almost awkwardly like it wasn't driving itself or being driven by a person so maybe remote controlled with an operator struggling to see in the darkness. I have a gut feeling tesla is faking it with the robo taxi and hoping they make it. I don't at all think fsd is capable enough to be without human intervention just a mere 2 years in the future. I don't see fsd getting that much better in just 2 years to where i would be comfortable removing the human controls if I had a say in teslas car division.

I’d hope so. This whole thing is a huge joke. This guy needs to be removed immediately before he kills the rest of the functional Tesla brand.
I've been saying this since 2018 when he promised a million robo taxis by 2020. And yet people call me a Musk hater. Eh go figure.

How stupid for a "smart" company. Im telling you, you heard it here first from me a long time ago. They better start producing cars the mainstream family wants to justify that outlandish PE ratio. The stock is nothing more than a trading play. Just like bitcoin.
Im not saying they will go out of business but sooner or later have to justify a PE ratio hundreds times higher than its peers.

BTW- as of right now it's down $18 a share, almost 8% ... so investors think it's stupid too. But since Tesla is a trading play who knows, as it is selling offer AI computers can be buying it up, to sell back to the public at higher prices.

This is what bigs me a CEO that doesn't listen to anyone at the company. Tesla engineers have stated repeatedly that the industry and Tesla as a whole are more than a decade out if not further on autonomous driving. Yet here we are the Muskrat is telling the world that "No biggie we're really close".

Tesla cameras can't even clean themselves so when dirty my understanding is that autopilot and fsd are turned off. Then if it encounters sunlight glare, fog or other issues it can't function either. Mercedes rolled out level 3 last year in parts of California, Reno and Las Vegas. Tesla thinks they can jump to level 5 in two years?

Where's the resident Tesla poster who keeps saying how Tesla is beating the "Big 3" and their market cap is bigger than anyone else? I wonder what their take is?

When it comes to electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and market cap Telsa is beating the big 3 - badly.

They are also ahead on automation - Waymo stopped using lidar (remember that discussion) and operates in a geofenced mode, not at all the same thing. Mobil Eye also ended lidar development.

None of that means this event wasn't a lame circus trick. It was bad.

The board has to know Musk is destroying the company, but they know if they oust him the stock will tank to where it should be.
