Tesla parts ordering getting on my nerves.

I don't understand this onerous parts purchasing system at all and why they have it like this. I signed up for a business account and everything has to be ordered online. Ok, no big deal. But then it has to be shipped to you. I have three Tesla dealers within 20 minutes of me so why can't I just pick up the part like every other make does, instead of wait probably a week or more to have it delivered?

It's just a simple cabin filter for my two 2013 S's. But the stupidest thing is that I have to make a separate order for each car. I can't just order TWO filters at once. I have to order a filter under one VIN and then another one under the second VIN and pay two $8.26 shipping charges. May have to reevaluate future deals. I wanted to like the cars, and I do, but no other brand has this annoying system of parts support.

Hey I'm surprised you didn't see this coming. This is one of the myriad of reasons I tell people not to ever own a Tesla. You can blame this on musk who keeps changing part numbers on vehicle batches. Plus Tesla claims "improvements " by randomly changing things or making things difficult. Ask Jason Fenske who went round and round trying to get his free lightweight wheels for referring multiple people without ever getting a set.

I mentioned when you purchased the last one (that you posted on here) any parts were going to be proprietary and a pain. Hopefully when you sell them it's worthwhile.

Bcs. Tesla is not car company. Depending on trand, or how much they screw up (CT) they are software company, then robotics company etc. Depends on the flavor of the day.
They can’t have system like other companies simply bcs. they don’t have know-how of other companies, but they think they know everything.

In all seriousness, there isnt aftermarket filters? Fram? Purolator?
Sure but it was really going to be a test, my first order to get a feel of things. I like to see oem labeled parts in my cars, and at $18 they are no more expensive than aftermarket brands, until you factor in the shipping, which if I could pick up, or at least order two at once, wouldn't seem too bad.

I bought a cabin air filter from Amazon.
I bought the Wall Charger at the local Tesla store, just walked up and bought it.
They came out and changed the 12v battery when it was on its last legs.

I have heard horror stories about accident repair parts, but have no personal experience.

Your Tesla hate is well documented but do you have proof that musk personally changes part numbers?
Perhaps what @97prizm is talking about is, Tesla continually updates their vehicles, by over the air updates as well as ECOs during the model year. In fact, the model year has far less meaning than traditional car companies. Tesla does not wait until next year to improve their vehicles. I know our Dec 2018 is far different than a newer car, even though they look alike.

You know what part came with your car by BOM; now getting that part in a timely fashion can be problematic. That has been well documented.

Note: BOM is Bill of Material and ECO is Engineering Change Order.

Tesla updates AC filters over the air? WOW. Can they also update those clumsy control arms?

What I meant was as an example. The model Y has three different front frunk latch assemblies with different part numbers. You won't know what part or assembly you have till it has to be replaced. Second example. My dads boss had a sister with a 2015 model s. After three years of ownership she damaged the front bumper enough that it needed replacing. After a lengthy wait the Tesla service center called her to tell her that they can't source a bumper for her model S. According to Tesla the 2016 and 2017 Model S used a different bolt pattern and mounting bracket that was incompatible with the 2015 bumper. The insurance company totalled her model s.

I don't own a Tesla and likely never will but am a Tesla stock owner. Being an unabashed capitalist I appreciate anyone who owns these cars and purchase their parts and services. Thank you all for keeping the stock from tanking. I am in your debt.
I bought into BYD car and battery division but I wouldn't want own one either.
