THE WHOLE OPERATION and if that ain't enough evidence geeez what people will believe ,,Very sad ,,I knew a gal that had a son in law that was 24 ,,and watching Fast and Furious he started buying after market parts for his Neon car cause he thought that show was real and he was determined to do enough stock upgrades to make his car like the show( the oversize big [censored] muffler was a start) ,,,I just had to vent

Reality shows arent reality.To think Chumlee is as dumb as he is has to be just playing for the TV (Pawn Stars),and the arguing that always seemed to be happening on American Hot Rod bordered on a hostile workplace...Discovery Channel and TLC would be sued off the air if all that was real.

The producer of the show has said the characters and scenes were "simulations" of real moonshiner activities.
It's entertainment folks, not factual.
I mean, if Sheriff bubba watched the scences closely, couldn't he put two and two together and get these guys?
The raids done on actual moonshiner stills and sales come from "informants."

It is only "reality" tv because part of it is actually base on true facts.
The old guy "popcorn" that is sometimes shown in the flashbacks was a real moonshiner, but he killed himself after he was sentenced to federal prison.

All reality TV is scripted. Destination truth for example. Everyone is playing a part. Most of it is ad lib'd but the show still follows a script. It's tv,its entertainment. No different than pro wrestling.

Pure junk television. Not worth watching to me just like any other reality tripe.
It's a shame....all this potential to produce good television shows yet all we get is garbage. The American viewer surely must be watching this trash though or it would not be broadcast. Really says something about who we are (not just 'Moonshiners' but all the other junk we watch).

If you wanted to see something real pathetic, watch "Jungle Gold". The two guys on there are hard up because they made poor real estate investments. So to "solve the problem", they go to Africa to mine gold. They appear to be completely clueless when it comes to mining gold, and from what I read about the rest of the season, they basically go home penniless.

I like Moonshiners. Like Gold Rush and Bering sea Gold too. And of Course deadliest catch. Not sure why people are bundling these shows in with Jersey shore and MTV.

My brother and his family stopped at the site of the pawn shop when they were on a summer road trip. Chumlee has a degree in history, and makes $24,000 every show that he is in.
The moonshiners gotta be making much more per show than they could ever be making if they were only selling white-lightning. It is ALL about the money they are being paid to be on the show. Not a bad gig if you can get it.
While these people or at least some of them may have the knowledge of how to make moonshine either by past work or someone had passed it on to them, they would be total fools to be making it with documentation, and they know that. Those jugs either only have water in them or if there is any alcohol in one of those jugs it probably was filled from store bought bottles off in the background, with the original bottles and sales receipt easily shown if some local officer were ever to ask about what was really in the jug.

I watch television for two reasons - to be informed or to be entertained. If neither is happening, I turn off the TV.
I know Moonshiners is scripted, but I'm nonetheless entertained.

Lisa Kelly (the start of the show for obvious reasons) didn't even have a CDL before that show started. She was a made for TV truck driver. He also points out that "reality" TV got going after the Writers Strike in 2007. TV executives started using reality TV shows to cover for the strike, and quickly realized how much money they could make not having to pay real actors and real screen writers. It's been all downhill from there.
