I don’t know how, but Technivorm does a great job at not burning the coffee in a glass carafe. We’ve had a Moccamaster model for 8 years or so, and it makes the best coffee.

95% of the time I'm using 20-22oz of water in my similar model (but with glass carafe and warming plate)

They make a smaller model for single cupper.

I'd get one but my Zojirushi is still working well seven years on. And it has a timer, so the coffee is ready when I wake up! It's my second machine with a thermal carafe. Previous was a Braun KF600. Those units were classics. Wonder why they stopped selling them?

In theory yes.
I've tried higher end coffee makers with thermal carafes and they didn't work out for me.

My typical routine is quickly make a pot on the way out the door and pour into mug and/or travel zojirushi mug (best travel mug ever)
The most recent thermal carafe I've used would not pour unless the carafe lid was fully installed.
Without the lid the coffee dribbled down the side of carafe.

I've had this Bonavita now for 10+ years.

I was considering a refurbished Moccamaster KBT some months back and even those were ~$240.

Mine came today. Just unboxed it. For a coffee brewer, It's a piece of hand built artwork for sure. Now to brew a pot and let the magic begin. Lol

Update- Wow that is great cup of coffee. ~7 scoops for 10cups seems like a lot, but it's delicious.

I bought one for $126 - like new with 20% off. It was never used. I put some cups through it and like it. Gotta play with grind sizes a bit.
It does seem to make a lighter cup than I am used to, I guess lower extraction. Im using the same ratio as I would do on my V60 300g/20g which I typically do 4:6. I may need to grind a bit more fine. I have an Ode2
