Tankless Water Heater Flush Questions

Found this about orthophosphates. Seems like they can combine with calcium and magnesium and form deposits, but I think we just take it as normal calcium deposits anyways, since the appearance can be white or grayish.
So if your water is already soft an doesn't have lots of calcium or magnesium, you will be safe.

I took a long hard look at our shower head, we are neat people but never even thought to clean it.
It literally looks like is was bought yesterday, meaning after a few years, there are no deposits. It would certainly show up because the head itself where the nozzles are is gray.
