There are always exceptions to every rule and I would estimate that one per cent of snake oil additives sold are used correctly.

You assumed a lot of things then offered pointless opinions.

The OP can get Kreen which is a lot tougher to order and ship than any oils. Why is 10w60 oil better than "safe" snake oil or any snake oil for that matter? Show me one instant where the manufacturer of any 10w60 oil states that it will cure splash noise or knocking noise per the OP.

Your opinions are worthless because it is not even on topic. Your purpose seems to be promoting LM "safe" snake oil, whatever that is.

Hehehe. Poor skyship.

Yeah, you've been doing a lot of that lately (i.e. you don't think and you presume, and you've been surprised by a lot of facts). sheeeessshhh!!!!!

Some people here say just use quality motor oil and do not use oil supplements. Generally I agree with that myself and I think 99% of oil supplements are junk anyway.

But I read an article in a consumers magazine recently and what they found out was that most motor oils basically just meet or slightly exceed requirements and for Corvettes and some other higher end vehicles there are only about 16 motor oils that meet those requirements. And of course how long the motor oil is effective also depends on conditions-stop and go city traffic versus highway driving, weather conditions, etc.

And then some of the people here who say don't use oil supplements may be themselves using oil supplements, such as LM. If somebody is so against oil supplements and then says that he uses oil supplements himself I wonder about that.

There seems to be some evidence that Kreen and MMO work to clean up engines. If course, that does not mean dumping a gallon of MMO into an engine. If there is adequate evidence that Kreen and MMO work, what is wrong with occasionally cleaning an engine with the proper amount of these supplements?

It seems to me that a cleaner engine will run longer.

If the symptom of the noise coming back, then maybe I will relent to use 40 weight oil. Even though it is difficult to find 60 weight oil here, the 40 and 50 weight is abundant.
Personally I do not think 60 race oil is necessary now, because even I use 30 A3 oil, I still can find the engine is a bit hesitant, and there is no oil consumption and no coolant leak. Fuel dilution not too sure, but so far no gas smell in oil, normal fuel consumption, the car still run 100 kmh with a bare touch in pedal.

The noise I have is not unbalanced crank, that I might slightly have on the old engine. I guess it is rattle on cold engine, guess maybe piston slap or restricted oil flow, which is interestingly gone when I change Mobil 1 Extended Performance+Ceratec with my motorbike oil cocktails. The noise during the engine is hot is more on ticking on the valve rather than rattle which comes on and off on the high rpm.

Add to dismiss speculation, yes I import the Kreen

. I thought I will never see it, but it finally arrives after more than 2 months

Clevy - My comment/opinion that Seafoam is snake oil was not intended to slam what your doing, hope you didn't take it that way. We agree additives work, just differ on which ones. If you think Seafoam works, makes your engine sound and feel better, thats all that matters!

I took no offense from your comment and I apologize if my comment came off as combative.
Happy new year

ok, finally I already run 500 km with 4oz kreen in the sump, so far the engine is quiet, stable idle, slightly pepier - feel like using chlorinated parrafin or ARX on steroid

Yesterday, checking the oil, and while putting the plastic dipstick back to the hole, I got distracted with other car's noise and then ...
broke my dipstick.

It is interesting the dipstick is broken easily, hopefully not because of Kreen. BTW, pay about 12 USD to get replacement (steel made). Will dump the oil in few days and put in my SM Pennzoil Ultra 5w30.
Will update on what happened after changing the oil then.

OK- the verdict is out. I dump my MC cocktail oil and replaced with PU SM 5w30. I run the car for around 40 km and the engine still sound very smooth, so seems Kreen deliver the nouvelle promise by ARX, clean the surface to better lubricate.
