I thought that Mobil 1 0W-40 would be the least questioned as to whether it is/is not a "synthetic" since it has many European certifications/approvals?

Interesting:

German0w40MSDS.JPG

That's from the German MSDS for Mobil 1 0w-40, which is newer (November 21st, 2014) than the USA MSDS (July of 2014) and shows 50-60% PAO, making it Synthetic by the German definition!

So what do you think, did they changed formula again or what?
One would think if this oil truly was 50 % PAO, manufacturer would marketed it as fully in Germany.

Yeah, I think they changed it (again). It may get a German label change eventually to reflect that. Or maybe not. God only knows with XOM... LOL!

You do realize how long it will take Imperial Oil to be distributing the "new" stuff in Canada, right?

Decades, LOL!

I bet with a little bit of effort, I could still find Mobil 1 0w-40 in SM somewhere in Regina.

I would hope that CT, Walmart, and Imperial Oil themselves would be all out of it, but one never knows.

I don't know why anyone would come to BITOG asking for advise on oil...It's probably the worst thing you can do

Especially if your in Germany.

Use Voltronic 15w40 semi-synthetic.

What are your thoughts, experience?
Thanks.

Hallo!
In my previous daily driver 1996 1.6 Corolla I used fully synthetic 5W40 oils, mostly Shell Helix Ultra and Motul 8100. Up here not so many conventional oils are available and the price difference would have been very small.

I agree.
