I was considering using full synthetic Mobil 1, but was advised to use 10w40 Mobil Super conventional oil by an auto mechanic, the mechanics' reasoning is that the full synthetic oil would not offer enough benefit when comparing the price of it to conventional. What are your thoughts, experience?

In my previous daily driver 1996 1.6 Corolla I used fully synthetic 5W40 oils, mostly Shell Helix Ultra and Motul 8100. Up here not so many conventional oils are available and the price difference would have been very small.
