2015 Jeep Partiot 2.4L 4-banger; first oil change was free...went from conventional factory fill to Pennzoil full synthetic @ 3500 miles; want to start doing my own oil changes and would like to use Pennzoil conventional during warm months and using straight syn or synblend in colder months...is it ok to switch like that or is it once syn always syn (is this myth debunked or hold true)? thanks

My vote goes to buying synthetics while they have rebates open and just use synthetic all the time. However there should be no major problem with switching back and forth. Many people here just use whatever the cheapest oil available is.

The line you hear about not being able to go back to conventional oil after using synthetic is a myth. How come you can buy a blend of synthetic and conventional oil if they can't mix?
You can use whatever the heck you want! Subaru recommends synthetic for my car, so I am stuck.

No problem switching. If the manufacturer doesn't specify synthetic use what you want. I was using synthetic on my vehicle and had some conventional I needed to use up. Warmer weather here so I put in the conventional after looking up specs for my car. Didn't say I had to use synthetic, so in the conventional went. Next change will be a blend.

There in not a whole lot of difference between syns and "conventional" oils until the extremes.

I used to switch back and forth with no issues, but no longer see point of using conventional. However, switching back and forth shall pose no issues.
