Better with respect to what? Because there are more efficient filters than the Ultra ... like the PureOne, but it's not full synthetic and can't go the FCI distance of the Ultra. When comparing filter, have to be specific on what aspect is being compared. If you mean the Ultra is the best full synthetic filter out there today, I'd say that's a true statement.

Isn't Wix less than forthcoming with the efficiency numbers on their syn filters? That's what I've read on these forums. I'd pick the Fram.

The media is a blend of synthetic and cellulose fibers.

Other than the media, the Royal Purple Extended Life and the Mobil 1 are the same basic filter. The late Delco Ultraguard was also the same basic filter, as are the current Toyota TRD High Performance Oil Filters.

All are made by Champion Laboratories.

Really? I heard the M1 filter is built real stout. If the RP filter is the same filter with synthetic media, that would move it up to the top of my list. Which you think is better, RP or NAPA Platinum?

If Wix's beta spec of 50% @ 20 microns is anywhere close to accurate, I'd never use a Wix Platinum or NAPA Platinum (same filter).

The Fram Ultra tromps both of those IMO ... mostly the Wix/NAPA Platinum.

Haven't you made up your mind yet? Dude, just go get an Ultra and try one out.

Without samples to disassemble and some tests choosing one would be speculation.

The primary advantage of the synthetic media as it is implemented in vehicle oil filters is a long life. You can do a more than adequate job with other media for a lot less money, so you need to decide what it is you want to accomplish and do a cost/benefit analysis.

+1....IMO, as I've said before....the Fram ULTRA is the "best bang in filtration and construction, for the buck".

Yes, that even gave me pause when I was in a NAPA today and would not pull the trigger on their Platinum sale for an instant $5.00 off of list (and my 10% AAA discount on top of that!).

I will either stick with the EaOs (even though some on here do not think much of them either), try the Ultras, or go back to the M1s.

me too neither. I always placed fram in the "only on something I'm about to sell" category. And now the ultra is the best thing smokin', even compared to the Ea0 filters ?

For those on the verge of trying the Fram ULTRA...there is a $2 per filter rebate on the Fram website, through 6/30 I believe.

For those on the verge of trying the Fram ULTRA...there is a $2 per filter mail-in rebate on the Fram website, through 8/31.

Here's the rebate link. Limit 2:

Fram Ultra Rebate Link

Great, that rebate link gets me just a tad off the whopping price of a Fram Ultra XG10075 at Walmart of $25. Ouch! I'll take a CH10075 for my BMW since the CH still is 95% @ 20 microns, glass-blend.
