SYNTH VS BLENDS VS MINERALS

The only one I won't buy is syn-blend. I prefer to make my own using dino & full sy nthetic.

Since I could only vote for one -- I picked synthetic. It is clearly better than dino in longetivity, engine cleanliness & overall extreme temp protection.

I won't buy the blend either.I make my own alsn a 6 quart pan i use 2 quarts.

My new car currently see's only synthetic. My wifes car see's only dino. I am thinking about switching to Schaffers Series 9000 5W40 wich if I understand it correctly is a blend.

I use synthetics, only because I have them stocked. Buying from scratch, I don't think I'd buy $5q oil at all. I like changing oil too much and I think it's better for the engine anyway. HM oils for cars that need it, but dino for most cars inc new ones.

wow a 4 year thread! Sweet!!!!!

Anyway, my bimmmer takes 6.1 qts... Running straight syn gave me leaks, so I run 3 qts of M1ep and 3qts M1 Clean 7500. Leaks stopped, and now I do 8k OCIs..

My vote is Semi Syn.

My car may not be all that expensive but I run nothing but Synthetic in it.

Pontiac Sunfire 2004 (2.2L Ecotec) bought @ 6k miles. Has 32k on it now

Used Mobil 1 full syn from 6k - 30k. Now using GC (German Castrol 0w30) from now on.

WOW,,,,,old thread,there has been many changes in formulations since the ,over 4 years,,,, the current minerals come close to the back then semi-synt.,,,in bases,,,Trop-Artic for one is a very good semi.,,,,full semi bask then,well again much improved,,,,,,,,,myself,I use various semi synt. brands as Schaeffers,Trop-Artic,Chevron mineral (GP-2 Plus),Quaker State SUV. Semi.,,,,,,,,,,all really great oils,,,,,,,,BL

01 Ford Escape, 06 Mustang GT, both on MC syn blend. I think the MC and other Conoco Phillips blends are attaining cult status because of quality and value.(att. GC fans)

Schaeffer's 7000 Syn-Blend 10w30 all 4 vehicles.
All year round.
It's been very good to me!
