Anyone know anything about Synlube oil filters?

This is the specs for the filter that cross references to a Purolator L24011:

Technical Data:

Filter Type Full-Flow Lube Spin-on
Anti-Drain Valve YES
Case Height 4.92" 125 mm
Thread M18 x 1.5mm
Case O.D. 3.00" 76 mm
Relief Valve Setting NONE
Base Gasket O.D. 2 3/4" 71 mm
Base Gasket I.D. 2 3/8" 62 mm
Filtering Efficiency 10 micron 99%
8 micron 98%
5 micron 95%
Beta Ratio* 10 micron 100
20 micron 200
Filter Element Area** 85.5 square inches 55,152 mm 2

This filter is $20, the micron ratings seem phenomenal, almost too good to be true

Any insight on these?

Definately phenomenal efficiency - it better be for $20.

Is this the same Synlube as Miro Kefurt? With the oil you never need to change? If so, I would take those specs with the entire shaker of salt.

If it's not him, then my apologies.

Based on the topic information matching linked information, it would appear to be one in same. Miro and Synlube still at it. Pops up on bitog every once and awhile. He's had an interesting life outside of the Synlube too. Loves him some Yugos.

Filter 'might be' ok depending on who it's made by before being re-labeled. But, I too would be highly suspect of the specs. "...too good to be true", sounds right.

I thought so. lol I'll pass. I wonder if he'll magically appear here now that they were mentioned. Stay tuned.

He's taken the Peak Performance Hard Driver oil filter box and used MS Paint to put Synlube on it:

Here's their filter being sold in Australia on E-Bay:

Here's the pic:

Now, apparently these filters are ancient, as I found this Popular Mechanics Google Book from 1996:

My educated guess on the subject is that these were filters built using Donaldson's Synteq media, which was developed in the 1980's, but couldn't get traction in the market. Miro has picked them up as NOS and is reselling them as "new technology".
