Mobil 1 10w30....Live in chicago, car sits out during the day at work, in the garage the rest of the time. What's the lowest temp I can run 10w30 at? Is it too risky for winter use?

I've got a good deal on some, which is why I am asking!

Thanks!

Honestly, I think that 'most' 10w30 synthetics are closer to a 5W oil in actual performance. I wouldn't hesitate to use any of them right down to -30C.

Mobil 1 10w30 and Pennzoil Platinum 10w30 have some of the lowest pumping/cranking numbers for syn 10W's....Amsoil is good to.

If you have a block heater, plug the car in if its going to be something silly like -10F overnight. I'm sure the oil would still flow but, not so easily. For my car the service manual says 10W30 is OK down to -4F. If your expecting any colder then it says go to 5W30, but its assuming you use conventional oil.
Probably you can look up on the website what the pour temperature is, etc..

Good news...thanks. I've got 5w30 conventional in there now. I figured that the 10w30 would flow at least as well, probably better.
