Well guys I want to switch over to Pennzoil or Quaker State High Mileage...would it be safe? Truck has over 220k now on a chevy 5.3 l33! Right now I'm using maxlife 5w30 and a Bosch filter..is if safe to switch to Pennzoil? I want to give my motor a good clean out! I drive short trips averaged 10 miles a day, lots of stop and go traffic!

Yes its safe if that's what you want to do. Why in the world wouldn't it be?
Are you switching because you think the Pennzoil is going to clean it out? Seems like Maxlife has worked well so far. I wouldn't change anything.

I always had good results from pennzoil high mileage in the past and may be still using it if they improved their leaky jugs with an inner seal..
Max life is also a good oil why do you want to switch? Valvoline makes a good product and their oil jugs are safer with a good seal.
Look at the max life PDS online and compare that to Pennzoil if you can find a recent pennzoil pdf that is.. I could not.

Just curious at the results I could get..was using Mobil 1 but got tired of 70$ oil changes

Buy your oil at Walmart. Mobil 1 is $22-$25 for a 5 quart jug, not sure of the specific price at this time. Pick up a FRAM Ultra filter while you are there to go with it.
But yeah, you can switch to a different oil if you want to. No big deal but I am sure the MaxLife is doing just fine for your engine.

Wow where are you taking it that it costs $70 for a change? Because surely it isn't costing you that much to do it yourself.

Mobil 1 is reasonable at wal mart plus i believe there is a $12.00 rebate...
For that price Mobil 1 is a clear winner.

It's not that clear a winner as PP is $22.88 at W/M with a $10 mfg rebate. Witin $2 of each other or 40c per quart. Whichever floats your boat.
All 3 products have different chemistry. M1 high magnesium/low calcium/moly + boron. PP higher calcium/no Mg/moly + boron. Valvoline high sodium, moderate calcium, no moly, no boron. While I think it is preferential to stick with one chemistry over time, there's no real risk in switching oils. It's probably more risky to mix them as the resultant chemistry will be untested.

+1 if you are using max life you won't gain any cleaning switching to pennzoil. You are already using a highly regarded Dexos rated oil.

I agree. I have mixed oils (5 different brands at one time before) and rarely use the same oil more than twice in a row. Syn, blend, dino, I don't care, and my engines don't either.

69gtx These days i lean toward Mobil 1 over Pennzoil.. Mobil 1 is everywhere and they list their pds on their website which is a plus..
Thank you for the PQIA link but that is from back in Feb.2013 over 3 years ago which is the latest i have seen on pennzoil so far without jumping through hoops.
Im sticking with Mobil 1 for now.

They are miscible but it is not optimal.
As Shannow has pointed out, you get an oil with zero certifications.
