Hmmm.... Which oil for next OCI?

Well you probably know I've been running Valvoline Maxlife 10W-40 for the past 1800 miles. It's been great, run very well. Well, In about 2 months (I would guess) I will be ready for an oil change. I was planning on switching to Maxlife blend 5w30. Well, I had a couple possible ideas, for experimenting with.

Valvoline Maxlife Blend 5w30
Valvoline Maxlife Blend 5W-40
Valvoline Conventional 5w30

Pennzoil 5w30 conventional conventional
Pennzoil High Mileage 5w30
Pennzoil Platinum 5w30

Quaker State Q-HP 5w30 Full Synthetic
Quaker State Advanced Engine 5w30 Synthetic

Castrol Syntec Blend 5w30
Castrol GTX 5w30 conventional

Mobil Clean 5000 5w30 conventional

Running a great deal on Pennzoil Platinum 5w30. Could try that for a few OCIs. Otherwise, I would pick Maxlife blend 5W30.

So Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 or Maxlife blend 5w30. To be honest I was conisdering Pennzoil Conventional because the local advance is having a sale. 5q Pennzoil Conventional and a P1 filter for $16. I also have half a quart of PP left over from the snowblower change, so I would only need to buy 4 quarts of that probably. I also have a $10 off purchase of $25 or more from AAP. So if I buy 4 quarts of PP at $4.99 a bottle, and a Pureone filter with the coupin I can get everything for $18.30 with tax. And isn't there a rebate/deal or something going on with Pennzoil?

Went to Walmart today, prices are so much lower. I can buy a 5qt Jug of Maxlife 5w30 for $15, or a 5qt jug of Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 for $20. My parents are going to pay for it, so I figure I will pick up the Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 and a PureOne filter from AAP and run with it. Sound like a good plan?

Been using Mobil 1 for years but gonna give PP a shot. From what I've read it should at least be equally effective.

I'm curious about it's cleaning properties since I usually do 10k ocis .I doubt anything will blow up.

Well supposedly Maxlife results in lower fuel economy, and lower power. I haven't driven it too much without it, so I can't really tell the difference, and I haven't been counting miles/gallong because I don't have a trip odo and I keep forgetting to remember/write down what it was at when I filled it up last.

I doubt there would be a noticeable difference even if you stepped up from a 5w30 to 5w40 Maxlife. Definitely not with Maxlife 5w30, I've run it (the 5w30), as well as many other brands of 5w30, 10w30 and 15w40 and never felt any difference in power.
