Autozone is having a "Syntec" deal right now - 5 qts + K&N oil filter for $30...and they actually stock GC (0w30)! Definitely going to use the GC in the gas Dodge & Mercedes, and might even try it in the old Bimmer if I stock up on enough. K&N filters will only be used on the gasser Dodge as I dont trust them in the German cars or the diesel.

I was thinking 10k OCI with 5k filter change & top off.

BTW, Autozone has their own "club card" where if you spend at least $20 on 5 different visits, you get a $20 credit towards your next purchase.

$30 x 5 + $30 - $20 credit = $160 (+ tax) for 30 quarts of GC = $5.33 per quart for GC and 6 free K&N oil filters, each of which are supposed to cost around $10.

I just hope they're able to keep enough 0w30 in stock...

Their rewards card does save you money, you just can't buy all the items at once.

$20 per visit

Its not clear from their circular if the $30 "deal" includes GC. Looking at the picture in the flyer, It would appear to be the USA made Syntec. Anyone know for sure?

Rewards card, one 20 dollar before taxes purchase a day equates to 1 credit, times that by 5 then you have your 20 dollar store credit after your fifth purchase.

the 5 quart kn special is for all castrol syntec. 0w30-20w50(which i have never seen my two years working for AZ)

the more 0w30 you buy, the more get shipped out on truck days guys... so keep buying, keep bugging the grey shirts too keep it in stock

I've had great success with the old green GC, and hear others have mixed results with the new gold GC. So use it and "test" before you stock up. If the oil works for you, by all means, go for it and use the saver card etc.
Just a FYI.

At looong last! A good Syn + high end filter combo.
Its been a while...

I've long yearned to experience the German Goodness that is Zee Oil. This makes for a great excuse to do so.

I picked up 6 qts and the filter from an AZ in Maryland... The yokles behind the counter had no idea what the hub-ub was about! I love being a Jersey Guy.

How do you know that? The original GC used to say made in Germany on the bottle, but now it says "European Formula." I thought I read on another thread that this formula that is found at many AZ stores might be not be the same oil as the "Made in Germany" GC. Very interested. thanks.
