My dad has a Jeep 4.0L and it has about 14K miles on it. It has been running on dino every 3k miles. He is thinking of going to synthetic and changine it once a year. He averages 4k miles per year on it.

Do you think in this case a flush should be used before putting Amsoil 10w30 in?

I would say no engine flush. also for a vehicle like this, the XL7500 would work great. Even though it isn't a True Synthetic(PAO/ESTER) it is a Group III with a good add package.

I own two Jeeps with the 4.0L engine(got them new)...put about 2-3k on factory fill then switched to Mobil 10w30.My hunting partner just got an 03 Rubicon and is doing the same.We just dropped all his fluids and put in synthetics except for the T case and transmission (using the Mopar stuff)..we also installed a SuperPlug in his oil pan..he had around 2000 kilometers before the lube changes were done...good to go
