My dad has a Jeep 4.0L and it has about 14K miles on it. It has been running on dino every 3k miles. He is thinking of going to synthetic and changine it once a year. He averages 4k miles per year on it.

Do you think in this case a flush should be used before putting Amsoil 10w-30 in?

I would say no engine flush. also for a vehicle like this, the XL7500 would work great. Even though it isn't a True Synthetic(PAO/ESTER) it is a Group III with a good add package.

I own two Jeeps with the 4.0L engine(got them new)...put about 2-3k on factory fill then switched to Mobil 10W-30.My hunting partner just got an 03 Rubicon and is doing the same.We just dropped all his fluids and put in synthetics except for the T case and tranny (using the Mopar stuff)..we also installed a SuperPlug in his oil pan..he had around 2000 kilometers before the lube changes were done...good to go
