Mama Bear designs and sews her own teddy bears. The sewing machine she uses is one of those industrial Singer #251-12 models with a sump and oil pump in it. It is quite a neat machine, has a sight glass on the side and you can see the oil going through as she sews. We are currently running Singer "lily white" sewing machine oil in it and my question is do you think M.B. could make the fur fly faster if we went with RL or Ams in the sump ??

OCI's are measured in bears, not miles and the last UOA revealed high levels of nylon thread and mohair in the sample.
Looking forward to your suggestions.

No don't use an automotive oil. You don't need emulsifiers, dispersants and what not. Stick with a light sewing machine oil. You are talking very light loads. Not a difficult application.

how about a ND 30wt??? Heavier is better - light sewing machine oil is all a plot by the makers to get 0.001% more efficiency from the system, to satisfy CSMAEE and 'theoretically' save the environment... at the expense of longevity.

right?
