Switch to quacker state 5w 20

I have been running 5w 20 penzoil platinum with 7 to 8k oil changes from new on a jeep patrioit.
Now at 42k
I see tarnish on the dip stick.
I don't think penzoil cleans any better than others.
I want a oil that meets the Chrysler spec.
Was thinking of switching to quacker state 5w 20 ultimate derability.
Any reason not too.

While I think both Pennzoil Platinum and QSUD are both excellent oils, keep in mind QSUD is made by Shell, same as Pennzoil. I doubt they have an add pack or base stock that is vastly different. (I'm not sure if QSUD uses the GTL base stock.)

I'd give Mobil 1 or Mobil 1 EP a try and see what happens.
 
Decent oil from the same company.

Driving habits? Maybe shorten your oci?

Any synthetic oil should perform good as long as it meets the Chrysler spec J.M.O.

Mobil 1 5w 20 does not meet MS 6395 spec

That's not what you implied in your original post.

Not all that long ago another "new" member spelled Quaker State as Quacker. After I corrected his spelling I was met with all kinds of curse words and labeled a spelling n***. That member disappeared.

And that is due to politics, not capability. That spec is low hanging fruit. They let Mobil Super Syn have it because it isn't considered a primary competitor to Pennzoil Platinum.

Super syn is a lesser product than mobil 1, will not use it

I did change my original message because I had 5 30 instead of 5 20 typo. Keyboard too close

With the low volatility of 7.1% QSUD has It likely is using GTL base as well.
 
I'm no oil nerd but can anybody tell me why Quaker State has a lower Port pour Point than Mobil 1 or Pennzoil,
Also there 10:30 has a lower pour point than their 5:30
 
Pour point can be influenced by base stock or use of pour point depressants. It is a largely useless parameter since it was shown to not be necessarily indicative of cold weather performance - as in your examples. That's why the "W" rating exists as it more accurately represents the the oil's cranking and pumpabilty performance.

As a side note it would help if you use correct terminology for oil grades, it's not "5:30" or "10:30", it's 5W-30 and 10W-30.
 
In my Grand Caravan the last fill was Havoline ProDs 5w20 and it meets spec. What i found out is Pennzoil Platinum doesn't seem to hold up passed 5k which any conventional can do. Havoline ProDs 5w20 seems to be tested at 8k but they claim it is good for OLM or 10k. Mobil synthetic is rated at 7500 miles that is Chrysler certified. For some reason people think Chrysler specs are weak but it is hard to find an oil that holds up to OLM. I would hope all major synthetic oil could go pass 7500 miles but alot are thinning out or there flashpoint is dropping out.

Yeah I know the oil grades I was talking to my phone and that's how it interpreted it.
I left off w we all know what I mean

If it is thinning out and the flash point is increasing, then that is due to fuel dilution which is a defect or condition of your vehicle, not the oil.
