How many deaths from regular (non H1N1) flu?
I bet 10x

I'm not taking it.

Nothing like being one of the 10X.

I had a swine flu vaccination in '76 .... is it still good to go ??

Well as you know chemo is a specific treatment targeted at a diagnosed disease of known progression my friend. I'm glad that you are still among us and I pray that you remain in remission...cancer is a wicked disease and I weep for anyone who has to live with the prospect of melanoma in their lives. Irresponsible "Marketing" of these vaccinations as an ultimate prevention, however, is akin to selling hope versus conclusive results. I personally want to avoid any chance of nosocomial infection by staying away from where the sick people hang out. I hope that you can avoid the flu and remain a vertical member of our society jcwit.

I know, I know. Thats why we pay for insurance on a car we more than likely will never have an acdident in. Or some smoke playing the game the big (C) won't catch up with them in time. Oh yah, remember Grandpa who smoked till he was 92 then died from falling down the stairs in a coughing fit not from smoking.

It all boils down to being able to rationalize everything to what you want, or to your own personable beliefes.

Your health and your life, but then again the family doesn't count either!!!!

The family likes life insurance LOL....We won't know, or probably care, if it gets cashed in on or not because we will be the man in the box at that point.

If that's your opinion. As you said before:
"It all boils down to being able to rationalize everything to what you want, or to your own personable beliefes." My personal belief is that there is a larger prize to be had- enough said. If I spend all my time worrying about avoiding the end am I really living? My family had better be prepared to be without me someday because that is a guaranteed outcome of life. If they are not then I hadn't performed my job well enough while I was here. I too have faced the reaper and came to quite a few realizations about scale of reality and ultimate importance of relative worries. Back to the swine flu...eating lots of bacon is not the cure that's for sure!

i have no qualms with vaccines. I give them to my kids.

I believe they are needed for polio, mumps, hepatitis B, diphteria, tetanus, whooping cough, hemofilus influenza type B, pneumoccacal, measles, rubella, meningococcal C , viscerella, etc

BUT

not at this time for swine flu, in australia. [censored], they probably already had it (the swine flu).

i think the swine flu is WAY overblown by the MEDIA. and the government(s) HAVE to be seen to do something.

more people die every day from the regular old flu than has form the swine flu.

No. Today's H1N1 is an entirely different critter.
TONS of info at Flutrackers. Start with http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100175

I'll go for the vaccine only if/when the current flavor of H1N1 mutates to something significantly worse. Assuming, of course, that the vaccine is effective against the new strain!

I'm glad you made it through. I know a few polio victims who ended up with varying degrees of (minor) disability.

Sad part is that you probably got it from vaccinated kids passing the virus through their system...a lot of Oz parents caught it that way.

Same here. I got a flue shot ONCE. Know what I got...the flu...

I'll take my chances with mother nature from now on.

Thats odd, tell us just how you get the flu from a dead virus?
If this was possible the human race would have been destroyed by the polio vaccine.

Of course there is folks that believe Head-On also works.

I've seen reactions from those who already have the virus (perhaps a virus)at the time of inoculation.

Reaction with something in the carrier. I'm three for three for getting horribly sick after getting a flu shot.
I never get much more than a "bad" cold during the winter. Pretty well standard I get a cold or two during the winter with typical symptoms.
Got the flu shot when they first came out as a general preventative shot since the doctor pushed them, got sick--sick = stuck in bed for at least a day feeling like utter garbage, and lasting a few days before getting back to something that resembled human.
Had another flu shot the next year as the concensus was as you said, 'theres no flu in the flu shot' and since I fall into one of the high risk catagories, I figured wth. and sick again.
Third time a couple years later, same garbage which is when I tied in becoming sick due to the flu shot. So never again.

Some people react with the flu shots, many others don't.

Got a new doctor now as my old one retired, she doesn't push the flu shot on me, but keeps asking me if I want a pneumonia shot...
Uhm... If flu laid me up for a few days, I'm not sure I want to risk what a pneumonia shot will do to me. =-)

Alex.

Sooooooooooooo in essence you did not get the flu, but a reaction to the shot. Mayhaps you should try one of the other options such as the nasel spray.

Regarding the pneumonia shot, as thats so serious for older folks and those with heart conditions I think I would have a Very serious discussion with my Dr.

In my case with my destroyed immune system because of chemo, even a cold was deadly. So not taking shots were not an option if I wanted to live.
