My mom and uncle always told me swifty gas wasn't very good, but recently it was 30 cents cheaper than all other stations and so I put some 91 octane in my hemi, swifty only has 87 or 91 where I live. The truck seems to run the best on this fuel so far. Previous fuels were marathon, Murphy's, or shell at 89 octane. Anyone like swifty gas?

I was able to put 6 gallons of fuel in my 5 gallon portable gas tank at Swifty (meaning the pump showed 6 gallons of fuel purchased). I talked to the attendant and he said their pumps were certified accurate and that I was wrong. Before I left, I called Weights and Measures and reported them. Apparently they are big violators in this way. As far as the quality of Swifty gas, I never had any issues.

ive used it, and have nothing negative to say. i prefer Speedway gas myself.. then Marathon/shell/sunoco (i like there 94 in my bikes)

i stay away from our local sams club gas station, you almost never see anyone there.. so yes im believer in old gas.. yuk

Since, at best, gas station pumps are checked only once a year, the stations feel they can get away with violations with few if any penalties. But, you did a service by reporting the station. W&M likely reacts to complaints.

We have a couple of Swifty stations in areas we normally pass through and they are sometimes significantly cheaper than anywhere else.
I've not bought Swifty gas in a few years, but I never saw any problems or loss in fuel economy when I did.
To the poster who noted that Swifty is not Top Tier: Really?

It was good, though there usually is headspace and some mixing volume in most big gas cans IME. So they may not have been in the wrong... Though I have no reason to say they were fight.

The best gas is where there is a good price, good maintenance on the tanks and filters, and the turnover is highest.

i have seen these, but there arent many close too me. they are a little farther north. i live right on the ohio, most ive seen are at least 30 miles north of me. ive heard good things, however. they also make some API certified oils.

There is a Speedway here in Lexington that I am sure has at least one pump delivering less than they charge for. Just the station near I-75 exit 110, not the other Speedway stations in Lexington that I have used.

Speedway stations are corporate owned, so I'm inclined to suspect faulty equipment. But it has been that way for several years, wouldn't W&M have caught it by now? Maybe my 7% underdelivery accusation is flawed, or maybe it's only the one pump I used several times in the past 7 years.

After repeated suspect purchases there over the years, I now simply avoid that station.

There are a few Swifty stations in Lexington. I haven't stopped at one for years, however. Some privately owned stations aren't as quick to raise prices as the Speedway cartel, so occasionally they will be 30c less than Speedway for half a day.

I still have that tune (Them bones) in mind everytime I hear Speedway....that old commercial for Speedway 79 (on VHS and You Tube) sure was catchy.

I stopped at one this past July on an interstate trip, the one near Lebanon Indiana because their web site listed it as having ethanol free gasoline.

I drove up to the pumps and got out. The pumps at this station looked ancient, the c-store looked like a shack from the outside.

There were only two grades - 87 octane E10, and 91 octane E0. The E0 was 60c higher than the E10. Their E10 price was competitive with other nearby stations.

Prices were relatively low that month:
Their 87 E10 was $3.29
Their 91 E0 was $3.89

I wanted 91 octane ethanol free, but not for that extra price.

im not sure about the whole top tier thing either, ive never seen any problems out of the many stations ive used that arent on that list. common here are marathons, shell, murphys, swiftys, speedway, and a few bp. i have usually used marathon, and murphys, but now im liking the swifty. i like that its and indiana company. i bought marathon and murphys in the past because they are american companies. i try not to use shell and bp much, for personal reasons. so far i see no reason to not keep using swifty 91 in my ram. its cheap and my truck seems to run just as good on it as the others.

Swifty is not listed as a top tier gasoline retailer on the Top Tier website. Is the Top Tier retailer listing incomplete?

I don't buy into all the top tier gas hype and will buy gas at any clean gas station that moves a lot of gas. That said, the only exception to this rule is Swifty fuel.

When my wife and I got married 18 years ago, I had a year old 1993 Chrysler Fifth Avenue which my wife drove. Since at the time she felt that she could not sashay her rear out of the car to pump her own fuel and Swifty's claim to fame was that they pump the gas at self serve prices, she felt compelled to purchase all her fuel from Swifty. She thought this was a good thing until the car stalled at virtually every stop light. Long story short, the injectors were all clogged into the next year. Paid $75 to have them cleaned, car ran fine after that.

Needless to say that she was forbidden (and still is to this day) from buying gas at Swifty ever again.
