Supertech Synthetic for diesels

I bought Supertech 5w30 for my son's Camry and I noticed the bottle says its rated SM, etc, but also says its rated CF.

What are peoples' opinions of the 5w30 or 10w30 for my Dodge Cummins PU or Kubota tractor? Including OCIs. We use a 5,000 OCI for my son's Camry.

I would only use CI-4/4+ or CJ-4 oils in the Dodge, the Kubota may survive just fine on the CF oil. I would just use a good dino from one of the diesel oil brands such as Rotella, Delo or Castrol, etc. Buy it when it's on sale and save a few pennies. My. .02 worth.

Factory fill for the Dodge Cummins used to be Valvoline Premium Blue, dunno if it still is. I have seen that at Advance Auto in the gallon jugs for about the same price as Rotella. Might be worth looking for.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with PB or PBX. It was made for the Cummins with Cummins input.

Ignore "API CF". It means nothing to the owner of any modern diesel engine. And even if you had a 30- or 40-year-old diesel engine, you should still use a modern diesel motor oil.

What you want is a motor oil that meets the API CI-4 or CI-4 Plus specification. Though some diesel-rated oils are okay to use in gasoline engines, the opposite is not true. Diesel motor oils are specially designed to hold soot in suspension, and they have a higher total base number (TBN) to neutralize common acids. (There are other differences, as well.)

I have to agree. I don't even think that supertech makes a synthetic oil.

I have been using Rotella T 5w-40 in the Kubota and Mobil 1 Truck and SUV 5w-40 in the Dodge. Since the Mobil 1 seems to be no longer available, after the next fill up I will be switching to all Rotella T. I have a problem with $ 6+ per quart motor oil anyway and the Rotella T is $ 4 per quart.

D-Roc, Supertech doesn't make it, they just glue their label on it. Its universally agreed its Group III.

Diesel oil that is. I see their gasoline oil, but no diesel synthetics.

Mobil 5w40 is available:
1) either as Mobil Delvac 1 5w40 at truckstops or truck parts stores
2) or remaining stock of Mobil 1 5w40 Truck & SUV
3) or as Mobil 1 5w40 Turbo Diesel Truck

Where to get the old Mobil 1 Truck and SUV or the new Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck? In Washington State there is a chain called GI Joe's. Elsewhere you should be able to order at CarQuest, and possibly from NAPA, for next-day delivery. Just ask for "Mobil 5w40", to avoid confusion.
