I went to Walmart last night to pick up some super tech ST9972 oil filters for my Toyotas. Decided to open some boxes to see what the filter media type was on the shelf since I have gotten both the white cotton and the yellow paper type media within the last year from our local Walmart to my surprise there were three different media types for the ST9972 oil filters on shelf. You had the yellow paper and the white cotton type that we have all seen. Third type I’ve never seen before which was a white shiny glass looking material. I found this interesting but I wish there were some consistency with these ST9972 oil filters.

Same box style, similar date codes, etc?
I suspect there are at least two suppliers then. Doesn’t look like a bad filter - what is the advertised efficiency?

Ha, I did the same thing. Only saw the white cotton type though and decided to stick with the Fram as the ST just looked not as well made.

That’s one. Doesn’t compare and contrast to the other two variants.
Not a poke, just reality that discriminating factors need to be identified. I’m guessing two factories.
