P1 PL15436 White or Blue Media?

I picked up two P1's (PL15436) for my parent's Cobalt at AAP last week. When I got home, I inspected everything (which I should have done in the store) and noticed that one of the filters are blue media, which is what I have seen whenever looking at the filter online, and another is white media with blue endcaps.

Has anyone seen a PL15436 with white media? I'm wondering if I've gotten tricked by the switched filter in the box situation here?

White media with blue caps sounds like a Purolator Synthetic.

That's how the endcaps look, but the media looks thinner that the synthetic P1's I've seen online.

It looks a lot closer to the Mobil 1 M1C-151 picture on AAP's site, or to the thickness of a Classic's media:

But I'm 99% sure the part number around the top endcap was indeed PL15436 (it's not in front of me right now). I was thinking that Purelator might have switched to the blue media from white at some point and I got an old filter, or vice versa and they are moving to the white media (at $12.99 retail price I'm assuming they don't exactly fly off the shelf).

Here are a couple of pictures. I guess maybe there has been a change in the design and coloring. The spacing on the filter to the left also caught my eye. Media seems pretty similar in texture to my untrained eye.

Not a Synthetic for sure.

Well I would at least take it back and look at the other stock on the shelf if you can. It looks more like regular Purolator media but honestly it's going to be hard to tell. If you count the pleats and come up with more on the blue one, I would take it back for sure.

I contacted Purolator - apparently the white media with blue endcaps is a recent change. So this is actually the new design. When my local store gets more in stock I do plan to go and compare. Both do indeed have 52 pleats. Thanks for all of the input, I guess I just let my OCD get the best of me.

In this case I wouldn't call OCD, it is reasonable to question when two things that should be the same aren't.
