It didn't prove [censored]. Post a pic from a used filter that YOU used; then I might believe what you say.
But I don't have to. I've already cut open a few used E-Cores from MY VEHICLES. You have to use pliers to rip the end caps off. They are VERY secure, and there's no sloppy glue residue everywhere like other filters.

pliers?????? you must have some good ones,because the ones i cut open where like my pic i posted,very bad glue job very easy to pull off,but hey if you want to use em Drew knock your self out buddy,i wont. i'll use my $9 UPF's and $8 FG..

Probably not as good as Wix, Purolator (PureOne), but pretty [censored] close in terms of quality. Bosch and SuperTech, I think, are made both by Champion Labs.

Actually Bosch are made by Bosch! Bosch recently bought the Purolator division from Arvin Meritor
I'll post some pics here soon also. I'm getting ready to pull one off that has been on there for 10K (inspected and drained @ the 5K OCI).

I had the same problem. I ended up tearing the media trying to pull the end caps off....

For the money they are still very good filters and I would use them before the FRAM ones any day. More haters the better, that way there will be more for me...

I'm not so sure Walmart management shares your opinion. Of the three Walmart stores closest to me, the percentage of Super Tech oil filter shelf space is getting pretty small.
I'm curious if there will even be a Super Tech filter a few years from now.

I've used them in the past. Not a bad little filter from what I've heard/experienced.

If they just offered an ST with a silicon ADBV or combo valve, it would be worth a bit more otherwise as is.
This is just another BITOG cycle. At one time the ST was highly regarded, now it's dropping in favor. One month it's Havoline oil, then GC, then PP, and now YB. None of this is every really based on any real substance. It's all "feel good".
Here's my problem with the ecores:
Look at the size of the oil inlet gap.
1. No. The can is not deflected inward at the cut.
2. No. The total area of the gap is not equivalent to the inside of the nipple.
3. Yes. I measured it.
4. No. A narrow gap does not flow as well as a round hole even if it did have equivalent surface area.
I don't care for them.

The edge of the endcap can flex enough to allow oil past.
I agree with river rat,one should look at the intake gap on the UPF or fleetguard nice and wide for oil flow.

You may be right. I will stick with the wide open filters though.

A few bucks on filters for the peace of mind is worth it to me.
When you figure the cost of, say two extra $25 oil changes a year, with the total average cost of vehicle ownership usually reported at close to .50c to .75c a mile...the extra OCs add like .0033c per mile at 15K miles per year. A non-issue.
I'll go ahead and use what I believe to be the best oil and filters I can find.
I don't have an opinion on the fabric end caps or the media or anything else in this filter because it didn't get past this inspection with me. I think it needs a slightly bigger can.
I like the old style Super Tech filters much better.

This was discussed before and calculated correctly. Everything is fine with this design as far as flow.
