Retailers don't like to sell things at a lost unless it has been on the shelf for years, however they would like to give them away for almost free if no one wants it or use it.

0w16 would be a good way to make them usable, 0w20 too but you may need an extra bottle vs 0w16, making the final blend a bit more expensive.

This has been mentioned to death (at least 5 times by me):

0w16 and below oil are spec by engines with VARIABLE VOLUME OIL PUMP , so the engine increase / decrease oil flow as needed.

This is one of the reason why they use 0w16 instead of 0w15 so people are not going to get confused and put 15w40 in their car or the other way around.
 
Chrysler does the same thing. They have Variable Oil pumps in their PentaStar engines rated for 20wt oil. It's weird to see the oil pressure all of a sudden jump on the gauge under the right conditions.

They are three different versions of the Exxon Mobil synthetic lubricant base stocks formulation guide, and I downloaded them in 2011, 2014, and 2018. Our discussion didn't take place until 2018, more than four years after I downloaded the version you posted.

In fact, I had posted the original version on our website and we got contacted by Exxon Mobil to take it down:

Well, let's see, when cold, the 0w-16 will be much thicker than a 20w-50 will be when hot. Cold 0w-16, depending upon brand, formulation, etc. should be somewhere around 40 cSt. When hot, a 20w-50, again depending upon the particular product will be at around 20 cSt, give or take a bit. So, yes indeed, if your gauge shows pressure when you're engine is hot with 20w-50, it'll read pressure when cold, if you put a 0w-16 in it. Of course, I wouldn't count on a couple loose old engines from the 70s or 80s being able to handle a modern 0w-16 oil when they get hot, so be careful. . .
