Came off a 2012 Mistu Lancer GT, 2.4 Mivec, with 257,000kms on the odometer. Filter was put on at 245,000 with SuperTech 5w30 conventional.

Summary: Very impressed with the build quality of this filter. Excellent pleating, strong bonding, perfect seals on the ADBV and bypass valves. Centre core is spaced for media integrity, centre seam on the media is tightly pleated. The silicone ADBV valve is what you would expect on high end filters, very pliable, sealed perfectly on the metal end caps.

Quite honestly one of the better filters I've opened in a while.

Is this the same lancer with that badly neglected screeching cvt? Did the transmission now blow up? I didn't think it'd live.

The same!

Car is running well. I posted an update in the CVT thread:

That's incredible. I service an outlander sport with the same 2.4 and cvt and I frequently change the fluid on it since i don't expect it will live even with 30k intervals so I do 10k or less for transmission intervals. Also using transmissionmax, never screeched or made any noise and i want to keep it that way.

That's likely the complete opposite service schedule this poor CVT got. If it's the same model/build of CVT you're in good hands! I bet this car gets over 300k with that CVT! If my kid keeps dating him, we'll find out!

Looks great OP
Love the MP Super Tech filters. One can only wonder why they would stop making them. Maybe to good for the price.
RIP MP, Seems WM got in on another set-up with the Purolator 20k's & the Fram Endurance filters "Exclusively at WM". Now no real need to sell them under their own branding. Things were getting expensive so they found a way to offer an extended filter while making more money I'm sure.

Great work. Guessing same filter and oil in and on? Thank You

Was the media in the MP7317 different than in the ST7317? I know the MP had a red silicone ADBV while the cheaper ST had a black nitrile one. I used several of both but really didn't think the silicone ADBV was necessary (or paying a few dollars more) for my 6Kish OCI if the media was the same.

I think the MP was rated for 20K miles (therefore a silicone ADBV) and the ST for 10K miles. A 20K mile rating for the MP seemed like a stretch. Both had the same efficiency on the box, that being 99% @ 30u. So the media probably was the same. I'm wondering if the MP had more media area?

I think you're right that the only difference (besides cost) is the silicone ADBV ...hence my thinking the ST was fine for my OCI.

I do prefer the the e-core nylon cage over 'louvers' and wonder if the media really is different in different brands of the same size filter using the e-core. For instance, the Fram 'Drive' 6607 has a black ADBV and is 'recommended' for 7500 miles while the Fram Extra Guard has a red (silicone) ADBV and claims 10K mile capability. I'd bet they use the same media.

What I can see, looks good. That said, last MP 7317 l used and c&p failed a flashlight test......HERE. I do like the older Champ beveled to recessed thread boss as opposed to now more common protruding "Fram" design. Fwiw, before seal area issues exposed by WCW, I liked the now discontinued MP series.

Thanks for c&p.

Edit. Didn't notice thread resurrection but comments stand.
