My first one.

@53' Stude There's a box with a brand new Motorcraft FL-820S on the way. Hopefully, it didn't "become damaged and had to be burned" because then.. you'd be burning a brand new one that didn't fit on mine. Just so ya know. Those 6 filters will never be seen again now.

Back to this one. Here, we can see it is Orange! Probably nitrile.. What results would setting it on fire yield? Should I make a controlled burn?

And, should I open up the metal canister?

This came off the Taurus. (04 Taurus, Vulcan 3.0) - old filter was one of the 6 that went to @53' Stude and were "unopened and burned" or something, I couldnt quite figure out what was being said.. so, we don't know what the previous one looked like.

I see you flipped the lid over to show the underside of the top plate. Very interesting. This is definely made by Champ but is the higher level one with metal end caps.

How did the "burning" go? My bet would be silicone! Agree with above, that's a pretty good looking Champ.

Rock Auto does sell a PH400XL, which is as close to an MP3600 as you’ll get (WM doesn’t sell one).

I got three Frams to use up after that lovely blue one you all see.

If it's an orange ADBV is silicone. No need to burn any orange ADBVs. If you do burn it, make sure to clean it well with isopropyl alcohol first. Do a search for burn test in this forum and you'll see what to expect.

Here is an unused Motomaster OE Plus 10060 with the same “double” baseplate, orange poppet, but metal louvered inside tube instead of the plastic cage.

The ST2 & ST16 won't have a silicone ADBV. I'm not really sure on efficiency on the STs vs. the Champ XLs either, and if the filter mounts sideways on a Jeep 4.0 (like my old '89 Cherokee) I would rather have silicone. Amazing how limited the MP selection is!

Just use the blue Super Tech. I’ll give your FL-820S to my co worker with his POS f-150 truck to use

That’s a nice looking filter. I hope the 6607 and 7317 versions that I’ve used (and bought a couple more of) for my daughters Mazda are as well constructed.
