PQIA analysis it's the same oil and same additive pack? Good for 5k OCI?

If it’s a decent synthetic as discussed here many times, why would it only be good for 5K? Wouldn’t it work nearer to 10K if not short tripped?
I’m thinking they use some EHC at that price point …
They sell ST 20k for just $20/jug - I’d sooner do that for 10k …

Super Tech High Mileage Full Synthetic 5W-30 is the old oil I use in all my vehicles.
My OCI in all vehicles is: 5,000 miles or 6 months whichever comes first.

I have 4 vehicles:

Three 2006-2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L's with VCM enabled (which is very hard on the oil with extreme hot temps on the cylinder heads due to VCM and poorly designed PCV).

2012 Toyota Corolla LE.

The reason I use this oil is it's Dexos 1 Gen 3 approved, which sets stricter limits for sludge and varnish deposits.
It has generous amounts of phosphorous and zinc anti-wear additives, and calcium detergent additives.

I'm also trying to keep maintenance costs low, as they can really add up (more than you think) over a 10 year period.

I keep an accurate spreadsheet of all car repairs done on all the cars I've owned in the past 20 years,
with cost of each repair for parts/labor, and cost of gasoline. The numbers have convinced me that car ownership
is much more expensive then most people think of the long term if you factor in gasoline, repair cost, and maintenance cost.

WM brand celery vs Costco brand celery. Both produced by Dole. Would it shock anyone to find out both are the exact same celery in different packaging?
Branding is important.
Elon Musk can sell a Costco hot dog for 13 bucks at the Hollywood GigaDiner.

When you buy Supertech or Kirkland you're getting the good stuff without a brand premium.
If you're a Costco member, it's easy to buy it twice a year when they have the sale pricing and have it shipped.

I certainly wouldn't join Costco just to buy oil though. Although we save many multiples of the membership fee just doing our cruise vacations through their travel dept.

Debatable.
Exactly. I don’t know many premium brands selling re-refined group 2 mixed with group 3 as their top tier synthetic choice. I can guarantee Warren, Wally, and Costco aren’t leaving a cent on the table. In fact the Supertech Euro costs more than Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 0W-40 because IMO they couldn’t meet the specs with those base oils.

That said many engines don’t require anything more. Important to know your engine and conditions.

Google AI suggests that Mobil 1 spent $100M on advertising last year. Kirkland & Supertech oil? Not much.
I don’t honestly care. I picked up Valvoline Restore and Protect and PUP for the same or even less with rebates.

The big name brands could spend $1B in advertising for all I care, I’m still getting the “premium brand” for the same or better than the store brands with very little effort.
